ודאי

וַדַּאי, וַודַּיm., וַדָּאִית, (יַדָּאָה) וַדָּיָיה‏ f. (ידע) 1) well-known, certain; distinct, real. Ber.33b הַוַּ׳ (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) Thou, the known one!Arakh.I, 1 זכר ו׳ a person distinctly male, נקבה ודאית distinctly female (no hermaphrodite ). Zar.41b הוי ספק וּוַ׳ ואיןוכ׳ here is a doubt (the idolatrous character of an object may have been given up) against a certainty (that it was an idol) and the doubt cannot set aside the certainty.
